The State Provincial Office of Lapland The State Provincial Office
of Lapland is a regionally and internationally networked general
administration authority of the State, which is led by the governor.
The State Provincial Office functions in a diverse number of fields,
using its expertise, monitors, assesses and promotes the accessibility
and quality of basic services within the province in addition
to looking after the welfare of the people in Lapland.
The International Unit develops and carries out the international
cooperation of the State Provincial Office of Lapland, which creates
preconditions and supports other actors in their international
activity. The main goal is to advance safe and diverse operational
environment to the economical and administrative cooperation.
The geographical focus is in the Northern areas. Close cooperation
is on going with various regions and nations through i.e. the
Northern Forum, an organization for regional cooperation, and
the Arctic Council, a national-level cooperative organization.
The State Provincial Office of Lapland participates in the implementation
of the SMART- project and functions as a contact organization
to northern and Arctic regions especially through the Northern
Forum and Arctic Council.
