Sustainable Model for Arctic Region Tourism (SMART PROJECT)
Nunavut Tourism, along with the Northwest Territories, was invited
to participate in this circumpolar project on behalf of Canada.
A representative from each of the two Territories attended a project
planning session in Tornio, Finland, with financial assistance
from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
With on-going support from the federal government, Nunavut Tourism
has continued full involvement in the SMART project, and has taken
on responsibility for coordinating Work Packet 3: Development
of training curricula in Arctic sustainable tourism based upon
the six SMART principles.
