TRAINING MODULE 3: SUPPORTS THE CONSERVATION OF LOCAL NATURE

Objectives:

• Training to meet the criteria of the Sustainable Arctic Tourism Label
• To help tourism businesses know they have the power to do something about conservation
• To suggest ways in which operators can become involved

Outline:

• Company carries out nature conservation or recycling project
• Company contributes financially to local conservation projects
• Company participates in other groups’ conservation and recycling projects
• Company works in collaboration with nature conservation partners
• Tourism operator carries out and shares research
• Tourism operator monitors and reports illegal operations to authorities
• Company lobbies government and industry on behalf of the environment


• Company exhibits environmental responsibility in its own operations:
o Water conservation
o Energy conservation
o Protection of endangered species
